Set in 55 acres of pristine Cotswold parkland, Cowley Manor is an award-winning contemporary country hotel that's all about comfort, fun and friendly informality.

Working closely with the owners, Yang Rutherford devised the cheeky, yet highly distinctive, 'C' word brand language which brings Cowley's informal character to life. At the hotel spa, named C-Side, guests select treatments such as C Plus for energy or Cor Blimey for waxing. Cowley staff are known as 'Crew'. The umbrellas are covered in Cats and dogs, while 'Come back later' is playfully embossed onto spongy rubber door hangers. And, when you receive the bill, 'C you soon' is the Cowley's cheerful postscript. We also designed the customised 'C' word typeface.

A complete range of hotel items using unusual materials - from hangover cures, eye masks, candles, in-room treats and all of the spa products, to the metal and concrete signage - were designed and produced by Yang Rutherford. Using the bare minimum of copy together with simple striking imagery to convey the easy going nature of Cowley Manor.
