One of the most famous hotels in Paris, L'Hotel is set on the Left Bank of the River Seine. It was Oscar Wilde's last home in the 1890s and the hub of Parisian society in the swinging sixties. It's also one of the original Hip Hotels and home to the acclaimed Michelin star Le Restaurant. With its quintessential French charm L'Hotel was acquired by A Curious Group of Hotels and its interiors remodelled by the famous French designer Jacques Garcia.
Inspired by Wilde's prescient last words - "The wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other has to go" - and by Garcia's flamboyant design, we commissioned a detailed Victorian acanthus leaf illustration to act as brand motif. Juxtaposed with this richly detailed historic pattern is our deceptively simple contemporary logotype that elegantly fuses L'Hotel's apostrophe to capital H. Stationery which looks like wallpaper on one side, while the reverse is modern and stylish, was designed together with dozens of individual key rings - each adorned with a different image taken from Garcia's lavish designs. The inexpensively produced key fobs double up as guest mementos upon leaving.
