Learn to cook with China's Jamie Oliver. Meet the super power's first super model and its next Pavarotti. Discover the round houses of Yongding County - mistakenly identified as missile silos by the CIA - and what's 'absolutely fabulous' from the editor of Vogue China. Visit the athletics school that's produced over 30 world champions and run into independent Beijing rock bands New Pants, Hedgehog, Carsick Cars. Go inside the Great Hall of the People and travel to Jiuzhaigou Valley - one of the world's most pristine nature reserves full of crystal clear lakes.
Embracing all that is edifying about living in China in the opening decade of this millennium, Double 8 is an eclectic collection of 88 innovations, creative ideas, people, projects, challenges, achievements, art, fashion, contemporary literature and groundbreaking photography. It's also a corporate sales tool.
When global architects RMJM asked us to design a brochure celebrating their considerable work in China, we instead proposed a book that would have very little content about the firm. A book that's all about China and its people, we argued, would be a much better way to demonstrate RMJM's understanding of China than a somewhat dry collection of projects. And it would have considerably greater appeal to a much wider audience.

Client Comments
"Double 8 is an excellent example of brand building in its most innovative and yet invisible form. This highly imaginative and insightful book pays testament to our architect's deep understanding of China and its unique culture. Double 8 positions RMJM not only as global designers but also China experts. It proved so popular - not only with clients but with everyone who sees it - that we also distribute it through Amazon, book stores and lifestyle shops such as Hong Kong's GOD stores."
